Dock Day
Dock day marks the start of our season. Once the docks are in the resort looks ready for guests. Mother Nature must not have gotten the memo that today was dock day. The sun is shining and the temps are decent!!! This never happens as you will see in the photos below. The last sunny dock day was 2012.

Triathlon Time
It’s that time of year for the spring triathlon’s.
On Saturday, May 12th the Journey’s Full Marathon started here at the resort. To learn more about the marathon be sure to visit https://eagleriver.org/featured/journeys-marathon/.
It was beautiful morning, sun shining and a pleasant 40 degrees, which means no bugs . The eagles didn’t disappoint us. Just after they finished singing the national anthem 2 eagles flew overhead. It was an amazing sight and perfect timing.

This Saturday is the 4th annual White Deer Triathlon in Boulder Junction. For more information please visit: https://boulderjct.org/event/4th-annual-white-deer-triathlon/. It’s a great Triathlon that includes paddle, bike and run. We are proud sponsors of this great event in Boulder Junction.

Spring comes quickly
It’s hard to believe that just 2 days ago ice covered the entire lake. I took a walk tonight around 8PM along the lake shore because the spring peepers are in full chorus. Low and behold I saw 2 loons on the lake. It doesn’t take them long to find open water. Half of White Birch Lake still has ice on it, but the loons are swimming around. The picture isn’t the best because it was getting dark out.
Ice Out Contest

Congratulations to Nicole Kazmierczak for choosing the correct date that Charlie went swimming. He broke through the ice around 12:30 PM on Wednesday, May 2nd. Thank you to the 90+ people who entered the contest this year. It was a long wait. Here’s the past Ice Out dates:

2013 – May 6th
2014 – May 5th

There is still a good deal of ice that needs to melt before the fishing opener this weekend. Depending on the temps this week it will be close.

It’s time for the 2018 Ice Out Contest.

We’d love to have you be a part of our Ice Out Contest. Send us an email at [email protected] with the DATE and TIME that you think Charlie will fall through the ice. All guesses are due by March 12th. The person whose date and time is the closest will be the winner and get their name on our Ice Out Contest plaque. If Charlie falls through the ice during the night the date will be credited to the next day. Sue and John will be at sport shows March 6-12, but Scott will be keeping an eye on him for us.
We’ll begin posting updates when there are changes to the ice. Have fun everyone! Get your guesses into us soon.

Ice Fishing
It’s been a pretty good ice fishing bite this year. It was bitter cold (-20 degrees) for a couple of weeks and then got warm (38 degrees). Pan fish, northerns and bass were all active. I fished afternoons and found a pretty good bite between 2-4 PM. Medium size shiners for northerns and waxies/spikes for pan fish. I prefer Glow type jigs with chartreuse and orange, but many other also work. My son likes gold. But my very favorite is………
