Welcome to White Birch Village Resort

A Note from John & Jody Curtis, Owners
The Northwoods. White Birch Village.
They give us what matters and our hope is that you will be forever richer because of it.
White Birch Village Resort, the leader in Northwoods Destination Vacations, is located on Wisconsin Rustic Road #60 nestled in the beautiful Northern Highland State Forest in the “Musky Capital of the World” – Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. Approximately 80% of our lake shores are state-owned forest preserve providing a wonderful wilderness area for all to enjoy.
As we reflect upon our first year of operations as the successive owners, we are blown away at the loyalty of all our guests and are beyond grateful for each and every one of you! Your patronage keeps our doors open and the magic alive. We feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to meet new guests and re-kindle friendships with guests Jody has known since her parents opened the doors as White Birch Village in 1982 (and even some from Motel in the Woods!)
As I (Jody), reflect on my years growing up at Motel in the Woods as a guest, I’m filled with so many beautiful memories. Memories that I know many of you share and experience each year here at White Birch Village. There was something magical about knowing all year long that this trip was coming. While the seasons changed and life hurried on, we carried that quiet excitement, memories of years past and the anticipation of making new ones and counting the days until it was finally time to pack up the car and head north.
The weeks preceding our departure always felt way longer than they should have. Packing the car was a ritual in itself. Bags tucked in just right, fishing poles wedged into place, last-minute items remembered only as we were walking out the door. Then came the drive – miles and miles of road stretching ahead, windows framing farmland that slowly gave way to towering pines and that repeat question every parent is familiar with… “are we there yet?” The farther north we went, the more the world seemed to slow down.
And then it appeared: the bridge, just south of Minocqua. We all sat up, excited to drive under the bridge so we could all yell in unison: “We made it! We’re here!” It felt like crossing into another life entirely. You had officially entered the NORTHWOODS, where worries stayed behind and everything felt a little lighter, a little simpler.
Arriving at the resort was like coming home. Unpacking the car, carrying armfuls of bags into the cabin, and putting everything in its familiar place. Choosing beds – sometimes claimed quickly, sometimes negotiated – was all part of the excitement. Our cabin held the promise of laughter, late nights, and memories waiting to be made.
But the people…the people are what made it truly special. The anticipation of seeing all the other guests, faces that had become more than familiar, more than friends. They were family in the truest sense, bound together by years of shared summers, stories, and traditions. It was a reunion that never needed planning; it just happened, year after year.
The time away from the rat race of everyday life is a gift. Days measured not by clocks, but by sunlight on the water, conversations on decks, the beach and the fire pit…the simple joy of being together. It is a place where memories aren’t rushed – they are built slowly, intentionally, and they last a lifetime.
Even now, these moments live on – not only for me and my family but for our guests who continue to trek north year after year…
The Long Drive, The Bridge, The Cabin, The People, The Memories.
They all remind us of what really matters; slowing down, showing up, and making space for connection with the people we love.
Thank you for being part of our little slice of Heaven in the Northwoods!
We look forward to seeing all our past guests in 2026 and are excited to meet new ones!
