Great Picture!

I just stumbled across this picture on the WBV Facebook page. My niece Hanna took the photo and posted it. It is an amazing photo of mergansers and wanted to share it with all of you. She took the photo here on White Birch Lake.

Time for take off!

More fall colors

The colors have peaked and the leaves are beginning to fall. By next week once we close, the leaf blowers will be going 8 hours a day, 5 days a week! 45 acres produces a lot of leaves!

This maple tree always has the prettiest color in the fall!

I've been meaning to share this photo with you. It's easier to get to the fish cleaning house now. This staircase comes off the creek boardwalk right across from the fish cleaning house.

Rainbow tonight

I was standing at my kitchen sink tonight and looked and saw a rainbow. Grabbed the camera and headed out. It stretched from the north bay over Hideaway and beyond. The fisherman who came in from the other side of the lake said the sunset was gorgeous. They will share their pictures with me tomorrow. I’ll post them when  I get them.

The Eagle wants the bait!

We have four fisherman up here this week musky fishing using live suckers. The eagle has been watching them the whole time and has even tried going after their suckers. the eagle actually got a hold of one of the suckers while on the line. Ed has cuts in his hands where he tried grabbing the fishing line. The eagle gave up, but kept watching them closely. Ed got great pictures of the eagle watching them!

The bobbers the suckers were on.

Eagle watching from the shoreline.

Eagle watching from the tree.

Great close-up of the eagle! He does look determined doesn't he?

Ed with a 39 inch musky.

Mike with a 38 inch musky. This one was thick in the belly. They said it was around 12 pounds.

It rained and rained and rained

I meant to blog this yesterday, but the power had a mind of its own. Hard to turn the computer on with no electricity.  We had another big rainfall on Thursday, a total of 4 1/2 inches. That brings our season total to 30 inches! WOW! Nothing like going from drought to lots of rain. It’s been wonderful. It’s so nice seeing the creek flowing again. And with all the water the flowage is a great place to canoe once again.  I took a stroll yesterday morning to see what all the rain had to bring us. Enjoy the pictures.

The fire pit wouldn't be able to have a fire today!

The boat landing dock is getting close to being under water.

We have our own mini waterfall going in the creek this fall.

The water was moving rapidly in the spill way into the flowage.

Beautiful Fall morning

I came down this morning to open the office and looked out on the lake and there was a beautiful mist hovering over the water. Thought I would share it with you.

The colors are just starting across the lake.

The island clouded in the early morning mist.

The maple tree by Hillcrest is always the first to turn in the fall.

It rained and it rained and it rained!

Friday it rained all day. We got 5 1/2 inches. It was wonderful. The lake and the creek are at the highest levels in years. The sound of the creek flowing over the rocks is music to your ears. Wish I had gotten a picture of the campfire pit, it had water all the way to the boards around the edge. Determined guest had a fire built Saturday night after bailing out the water!

This is the most water we have seen in a long time flowing under the bridge!

Animal photos

I hope you enjoy these photos of our local wildlife.

It's been awhile since we've seen a deer on the property, but this doe and her fawn have been hanging around lately.

Randy, one of our employee's, took this picture of a tree frog. It was sitting on the door handle to the silo at the Barn.

My niece Taylor took this great photo of a chipmunk in a bush eating.

The Smiling Rock!

Randy found a rock on the property that has such a great grin on it I had to share it with you.

It even looks like it's winking at you!
