Seeing double?
It’s time for a Charlie update…… be sure to cast your vote for when Charlie will fall through the ice. I’ve extending the vote date to March 20th. Send me an email at [email protected] with your date and time Charlie will fall through the ice.
8 inches of snow fell on Monday and Charlie is full of snow. You may also notice the tracks in the snow behind Charlie. We’ve had a bobcat on the property and I think Charlie piqued his interest. 🙂
Yes, you are seeing double. We thought Charlie was feeling lonely, so we let his sport show double sit on the ice with him for the day today.
Wonderful Interlude
We had a successful show in Appleton, WI. We are now enjoying a stay at Cold Spring Inn in Hubertus, WI. If you are looking for a great place to stay in the Kettle Moraine area you can’t find better B&B to stay at; Gracious hosts, delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. We are making a stay here a yearly event during the Milwaukee Sport Show. Couldn’t ask for a better place to rejuvenate between shows.
Peaceful green house next to where we eat our breakfast.
2013 Ice Out Contest
Ice Out winner? Make a guess as to when the ice will go out and when Charlie will fall though the ice. Two years ago Charlie fell through on Tax day April 15th. Last year Charlie fell through on the earliest ice out on record, March 19th. The ice can go out as early as late March and as late as the first of May. So choose your date carefully.
When will Charlie fall through this year? It’s anybody’s guess and you could have the winning date and time. If Charlie sinks after dark he will be credited to the next day. John and Sue need some sleep too.
All you need to do is email us at [email protected] with your date and time of day as to when Charlie will fall through the ice. All entries must be in our email by March 15th. The contest is open to any age and the winner will get their name added to the plaque in the lodge lobby.
Good Luck and we hope you have fun with the fourth annual Charlie the Chipmunk Contest. Come back often as we will keep updating photos of Charlie.

He’s all ready for you to make your guess.Â
New Nature Trail
John and Chris spent this fall adding to our nature trail. They created a south trail that branches off of the loop that goes past the barn. this adds another 1/4 mile to the hiking trail. It is a more rustic, natural nature trail. There was a women’s retreat here last weekend and we gave the trail a try with our snowshoes. What a beautiful hike it was! Snow has finally come to the Northwoods and it is beautiful! Enjoy the pictures.
Ice Fishing a Success!
I apologize that it has been so long since I have blogged anything. November and December seemed to just fly by! Our oldest son, Brian was here on vacation  January 1-9. His friend Jim joined him and they had a fantastic week of ice fishing. There may not be a lot of snow up here, but the ice is in great shape. John even managed to get out for a few days to enjoy the fishing. We have had many great meals of fish this last week. Brian, who is a chef, even made us walleye for breakfast one morning! Enjoy all the photos.
Never tried ice fishing? Maybe this winter can be your first. We’d love to have you come stay with us and enjoy some ice fishing.
The woods are aglow
The fall colors this year were spectacular! The woods were aglow. I drove down Nebish Road and it was like being in a sun tunnel the yellow was so brilliant. All our guest who were here last weekend were treated to beautiful weather, warm temps and gorgeous color. Everyone in the area are saying it was the best colors in many years. Enjoy the photos.
