Searching for a Musky

A musky was hanging around the beach dock all last week. One night there was a fishing pole in the water at each pier slip with everyone fighting to be the first one to catch the musky. Mr. Musky eluded them all. It was a sight to see. The kids were so excited about it. they kept coming to me giving me a minute to minute report.

Fishing in the Mist

One of our guests shared this great picture, so I thought I would post it. A picturesque day to fish.

Fishing with John

One of our 30th Anniversary celebration activities is a night fishing with John. Names can be submitted for a raffle drawing at our weekly picnic. As John says: “I am not a guide, we will just go out for a fun night of fishing.” Depending on interest he will either go out on White Birch Lake or take his canoe to a carry in lake.

Last night John and Curtis went to a carry in lake and had great success catching walleyes. guess what’s for dinner tonight? 🙂

A successful night fishing.

Crappies are biting

John and our two sons, Brian and Chris, went crappie fishing last night. They each got their limit and we know have 75 more fish to eat. Yum! John’s fishing report: Crappies are spawned out and the Bluegills are now on the beds.

Sure am glad I don’t have to clean all those fish. I just get to eat them.

Ice Fishing a success

This past weekend we had a few people up for ice fishing. It was a slow weekend, but everyone hung in there and  this morning proved to be a little different.

Enjoying the snowfall.

John patiently waiting for the next bite.

John and Sam hoping to catch something.

The perch were biting. Made for a good dinner.

Success this morning. 38 inch musky caught on 2 pound test. Everyone had fun bringing in the fish.

John’s opening day catch

John managed to sneak away from the resort for a couple of hours on the opening fishing day.

Supper was good that night!

Ice Fishing

John’s cousin brought a friend and his son up this weekend to enjoy the Boulder Junction Winter Fest and ice fish for the first time. They entered the ice fishing contest at the Winter Fest and caught 4 perch. No success for the contest, but the next day fishing with John was a different story. They caught 24 bluegills (made for a great dinner),  a 30 inch northern and a 16 inch bass. Sam, who is 8 years old, caught the northern.

The smile says it all.

John caught the bass.

Our son and his friend were up last week ice fishing and had lots of fun with all they caught. We enjoyed the fish fry!

Great Musky Catch!

On October 6 & 7 one of our guests hired a fishing guide to fish both White Birch and Ballard lakes. Even with a beautiful fall day the fish stole the scene!
