Here comes more Charlie findings!

Congratulations to Gillian and Lydia for finding Charlie. The first clue was: “I hope these ferns can keep me hidden”. Lydia asked for a second clue since there are so many ferns on the property. 🙂

With the help of a second clue the girls were successful at finding Charlie.

Mushrooms, mushrooms and more mushrooms!

With all the rain we have had mushrooms have once again made an appearance on our grounds. We had forgotten what a mushroom looks like since it’s been so long since we’ve had any around. They are everywhere right now.

Where ever you walk you can see mushrooms.

New Viewing Deck and Dock

Hillcrest and Woodside have a new dock. It sure does help top have the space for 5 more boats. No more having to use the space at the end of the main dock for boats. It can remain wide open now for kids (adults, too) to fish from. There is also a new deck along the shoreline to sit and enjoy the views.

Space for 5 more boats. Yipee!

Sitting in the new glider chairs is a wonderful way to end the day or enjoy the sunrises.

Picnic followed by raspberry picking

Another great picnic. 65 people in attendance with great food and sharing vacation stories.

Loading up the grill!

So much good food to choose from. My favorite of the day was the sweet and sour watermelon salad!

4 generations of the Steinmetz/Arndt family enjoying the picnic.

The berms behind the picnic pavilion are loaded with wild raspberries.

Great ending to a good meal....fresh picked raspberries!

New Charlie finders

William and Spencer searched and searched for Charlie. They were finally successful! Congratulations.

Charlie was hidden in a tree stump. They checked every stump on the property and were finally successful.

They chose to hide Charlie under the bridge, but the current was too strong and it swept Charlie away. Sue hid Charlie today for the next set of kids to find him.

Winning Picture for the week of July 10th

We continue to get a lot of great pictures from the digital scavenger hunt. Here’s this weeks winning picture.

View of White birch Lake taken by Andrew and Gwyneth. Great job! No matter where you stand along the shoreline you get a different perspective of the lake.

First Corn Boil

The first corn of the season arrived this week. It sure did taste good. It was a beautiful day for a picnic!

Corns Ready! John moving the big kettle so he can scoop out the corn. We've got the fire down to an exact science. It takes 16 pieces of hardwood and 16 pieces of pine to get the fire hot enough.

Scooping out the corn.

Having fun in the sand while the parents are grilling.

Great sand castle Andrea, Jake and Joshua.

Foods Ready! All of it was delicious!

1923 Oldsmobile

Carol and Dick took their 1923 Oldsmobile touring sedan out for the first ride of the season this year. Their potluck group took a ride to the Star Lake Store for ice cream.

Five were able to ride in the car, the rest had to follow in a modern-day version.

The old gas pump was finished this week. Too bad it doesn't pump gas anymore.

Canoeing the Flowage

The flowage water levels are finally high enough to once again paddle around in the canoe. It is so peaceful out on the flowage with all of God’s beautiful nature surrounding you. We ended a beautiful summers day last night canoeing all the way to the end of the flowage. We saw 3 active beaver homes and 3 beaver who were not happy with our presence and were slapping their tails at us.

A peaceful night on the water.
