A message from Carol and Dick:

Dear Friends,

The summer of 2004 saw many changes to the Village. Our new unit, Timberwolfe, was completed in July and rented for most of the summer. Our managers, Phil and Lois, left us in July, but our daughter Sue was kind enough to come and help us finish the summer. She did a good job and accomplished many things in the six weeks she was there. We were happy to have Bill Grunwald back for the last two months. His Friday morning coffee hour was a highlight with his many homemade baked goods.

Many of the units enjoyed new windows. Bluebill was completely remodeled with new carpeting and furnishings. The recreation area sported much new landscaping and completion of the croquet court.

It was a cooler summer but not without many beautiful sunny days. The big surprise came in the form of snowflakes on July 7. The north woods old-timers have always said that if you live there long enough, you will experience snow in every month of the year

As a start to the season, in May we had the Journeys Marathon begin at our entrance. You may have noticed the markings on the road throughout the summer.

Musky fishing continued to be good, although we would like to see a few less northern pike - at least those that are about 12 inches in length. It was a good year for crappies. Many large ones were caught throughout the summer.

Our Tuesday potluck picnics continued to be well attended. The Polish .students sang Happy Birthday in Polish to many of our guests. As always, everyone enjoys the good food so be sure to bring your favorite recipe. Many people worked off their lunch with a rousing volleyball game, shuffleboard or tether ball.

We feel this year we have to address the pet issue. We have always welcomed dogs and will continue to do so. We feel the majority of our guests have been very respectful with their dogs. However, due to extra cleaning time needed, damage, etc, it will be necessary to charge a fee of $30 per dog per week. Cats will not be allowed.

There are two construction projects in progress this winter. The lodge game room will have a new look and improvements. The Rec building will have the addition of a fitness room hot tub and massage room for massages by appointment. We hope to have everything completed by the time we open for the summer.

Looking forward to seeing you with a beautiful summer in 2005.
