A message from Sue and Bill

Greetings to all from the top of Wisconsin,

It is a beautiful sunny day here at White Birch Village and the Grunwald's are preparing for the possibility of a predicted large snow fall tomorrow. With this storm coming it is hard to get our minds in gear to think about the coming summer.

During this past winter there were changes in staffing and job duties and as a result I will be spending a lot more time on the resort side of the road.  We gladly accept this change in our job description and look forward to spending more time with all our guests this coming summer.

During the past summer many of you participated in various activities that were held at WBV. Some of these activities included fun olympics for the teens, the weenie roast for all of the guests and the wood burning demonstration by Sue Eady. Many of you shared your personal stories when Joe and Paula McHugh spent the afternoon with us telling stories, singing and dancing. Many of these stories scared the life out of us and some brought tears to our eyes. That was a great day. In August we were honored to have the Lakeland Barbershop singers do a short concert for us one evening as they rehearsed for their coming "end of summer" concert. Good music and lots of fun. Of course the pot luck lunches are always a favorite and you can be sure they will continue this coming summer.  So, bring your recipes and cook up a storm on Tuesdays.

New activities are being planned for this summer.  We are considering kayak demonstrations, volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, maybe a talent show or a pie bake off and ice cream social or even a shore lunch cooked by a guide. How about a morning coffee get together?  Your input is welcome so please send your suggestions to Sue and Bill as WBV, P.O. Box 284, Boulder Junction, WI 54512. You can also e-mail your ideas to us at carolanddick@whitebirchvillage.com.

It is time to start thinking about vacation at White Birch Village.  Make sure your fish hooks are sharp, your hiking boots fit and packing lists are started. It will not be long now and we are anxious to see your vehicle come down the drive to the lodge.

Drive safely and see you soon,

Sue and Bill Grunwald
