Dear Friends,

Considering the good times had by all, 1993 was a successful year. (For some, this included a sudden dunking in the creek.) For the most part, the weather was good. However, we do remember snow in September. Unfortunately, it was not a good summer for fishing, but then, the whole midwest suffered this dilemma. The fish spent the summer growing larger and stronger for 1994. Be ready! The tiger muskies that were stocked in 1987 are now in the 40 inch range. Several beauties were caught last summer.

The village also had two interesting visitors of the four legged variety, as many of you will recall the bear trap. We have not invited them back this coming summer. The squirrels continue to plague the lodge, the beavers persevere in the creek and the raccoons are ever present. We welcomed the flickers who entertained at the beach, our very social loons, the very large turtle in the creek, the owl living behind Teal, and the two fawns born near the barn.

Renovation and cleanup work continued in 1993 on the Aqualand property and we are getting closer to thoughts of incorporating it into the resort. Several anticipations are under construction:

• Hiking trails
• Aqualand memoribilia museum
• Recreation area
• Picnic area
• Rustic chapel
• Building for resort events
• Bird watching lookouts

We welcome your input on these and any other considerations. It is also our desire to have each guest family plant a tree somewhere on the property. The timing and details still have to be worked out.

The Malmgrens celebrated the marriage of Brad and Debbie in August, the relocation of  Jody and Steve to Rockford in September and the birth of their daughter Taylor Elaine in October. She makes grandchild blessing number seven for us!

We look forward as always to seeing each and every one of you. You have become such good friends.
