March, 1990

Dear Friends,

Thanks to all for another great season.  It is always a pleasure to see all of you.  There is a special joy in watching families change babies born, children growing up, marrying, having children of their own.

The 1989 season began with a nasty hailstorm and ended with a beautiful, warmer than usual October.  After being destroyed by hail most or our flowers came back eventually.  It was a summer of beautiful weather which meant we were once again short on rain.  The lake level is down, keeping beavers busy building under the bridge.  So far the snowfall this winter is also below normal.

We were saddened by the death of Carol's mother in August.  She had fought a long battle with kidney failure.  Her dad is doing very well.  He spent three weeks at the resort in September fishing and relaxing.  He even drove a snowmobile in December.

Oscar the large mouth bass, returned to tantalize guests and beg for a handout in the creek.  It was a good summer for bass fishing, as all three lakes yielded many a catch.  A 46-inch musky was the largest caught and many big ones were seen. Our house continues slowly, not yet ready for occupancy.  Maybe this summer some time. Too many other things have taken precedence, including a wedding for Carrie, as she married Butch Brooker from Sayner.

We are now looking forward to a good year in 1990 and certainly wish all of you the same.

Carol
