Newsletter - March, 1989

Dear Friends,

I must apologize for being so late with the newsletter this year but as you can see by the picture, for the last two months we have been out of commission.  With any luck, I should be walking by June.  Fortunately, Brad is at home this semester, or I would be even later.  He has found sometime between his two college courses and a job at Kelly Temporaries to lend his mother a helping hand - he is a whiz on the computer.

In December, two weeks before Christmas, Sue and family moved to Madison, WI, where John is now club house manager for Blackhawk Country Club.  Grandma had the three little ones for a week while they moved. They sure kept me busy. Jody end Steve are back in Tulsa, OK, along with their dogs, cats and horses. Steve is still teaching theatre at Union High School and Jody is working as a veterinary technician. Carrie has found herself a niche in Milwaukee. She is happily working at The Palette Shop and is in her own apartment.

We think often of the many good friends we have made at White Birch Village and the memories of 1988:

  • Oscar came back!
  • Our enjoyment of kids buying candy
  • Completion of new stone wall in creek with a new dock for paddle boats
  • New decks on Balsam Fir and Hillcrest
  • New dock for Balsam Fir
  • Many muskies and bass caught
  • Hot, dry weather - Burning ban - Low water level - Milk bottles marking logs
  • Gifts from guests: Loon lamp, Cardinal, Hanging  planter, Antique bird house

We are always so amazed that our guests represent so many areas of the country. You have come from:

  • Alabama
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • NewYork
  • Ohio
  • South Carolina
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • Washington
  • West Virginia

We were saddened to learn of the death of Bob Wyth in December.  Bob and Punk have stayed on While Birch Lake for al least forty years!  Bob was always a lop notch musky letterman.

Sure would appreciate your contacting me if you cannot keep your reservation this year.  I must keep book work to a minimum.  We are looking forward to seeing each and every one of you in 1989.

Carol and Dick
