February, 1988

Dear Friends,

Here we are at the start of another year.  Each seems to come faster and faster I hope that doesn't mean what think it does.  We want to wish you all a belated Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.  We certainly appreciate hearing from so many of you during the holidays.  After a house fire and medical problems in '87, we are certainly looking forward to a good 1988.

It's hard to believe we have completed six summers.  Each one seems to get better.  Such good friends we have made.  Some happy highlights of '88 include:

  • Fun in the Jacuzzi
  • Frustration when lightning closed it down for two weeks
  • Another year of stocking walleye and musky in our lakes - Those of five years ego are ready for the catching!
  • Pleasure from having Ervin Lemke, 91, and Lu Bowman, 87, still able to enjoy White Birch Village
  • At the other end of the spectrum, we had as guests, two Brandon's, each 4 months old
  • Entertainment from Oscar, the large-mouth bass in the creek, as he jumped for food
  • Red Oaks and Wood Duck rebuilt and enjoyed
  • Many happy children active on the playground playing in the sand and water paddle boating, and seeking treasures be it at the end of a fishing pole, in the woods, or from an organized treasure hunt.
  • Always the thrill of a musky caught, especially if it was a first.
  • How many might still be wearing the bracelet you made at White Birch Village? Thanks to Courtney for excellent instruction.
  • Fall was a beautiful September, enhanced, as always, by Paul and Glenna
  • Many amities happily vacationing together

Construction and improvements were limited this winter. However, BlueBill will have a new kitchen and the lodge has a new look. We are looking forward to our seventh season and seeing all of you.
