Newsletter - February, 1987
February, 1987
As you can see, I am running about a month behind schedule this year, due to our daughter, Jody, being married on December 21. It was certainly a joyous holiday season for us as we hope it was for all of you. We are most happy to welcome into our family, Steve Nibbe, who was a first-time guest in Wren last August, liked what he saw, and decided to marry the owner's daughter. They are now residing in Tulsa, OK, where Steve is a High School Theater teacher.
Sue and John continue to live in Rockford, affording Dick and I the pleasures of enjoying our grandchildren, Kelly and Brian.
The younger two are experiencing college, Carrie at Luther and Brad at Augustana. Carrie spent a most enjoyable month of January working at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM.
Remembrances of 1986 include...Enjoying the newly remodeled Hideaway, Balsam Fir, and Teal. Sharing the fun of the catch...muskies, walleyes, bass, and crappies. The potluck picnics at the beach. Watching the Plum-Skiters water ski show on White Birch Lake. Eagerly awaiting the completion of the spa building. The many duck families, including the mergansers. Sadness at the death of long-time guests John Backlund, Louis Peick, and Gramps Dreyfus (January, 1987). Delight in having Glenna and Paul managing in September.
Many happy children enjoying themselves. Above all, the pleasure of sharing the company of so many wonderful guests.
We are now busily preparing for our sixth summer. How great it is to have so many of you that have shared each of those five summers with us. The spa building will be completed with the Jacuzzi for your relaxation. There will also be new shuffleboard and basketball courts.
Again we look forward to seeing all of you.
Carol
FOR OUR 1987 SEASON
Unfortunately, one aspect of our efforts is our very significant increase in taxes and an even more significant increase in our insurance costs. Even with this, we look forward to completion of our renovations and appreciate everyone's patience these past five years.
